Indianapolis, IN and Santa Clara, CA - The Guidant Corporation has announced the launch of a new family of guidewires to treat difficult lesionsthe Hi-Torque Pilot^TM wires.

This new wire, said Dr Jeffrey Moses (Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, NY), "is a qualitative improvement in hydrophilic wires, with superb tip shaping, durability, and retention and excellent torque responsiveness." The Hi-Torque Pilot is capable of crossing blocked arteries that are hard to access or calcified lesions, the company pointed out.
